One fact I found out only this past weekend (after I had packaged this show, and therefore am too lazy to go back into it and edit my script to rerecord, ANYWAYS!....) is a wonderfully serendipitous connection between composers Parisa Sabet and John Weinzweig. Upon graduating from the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto, with a degree in composition, Sabet was awarded the John Weinzweig Graduate Scholarship. Well deserved!
I have a copy of the broadcast recording of the premiere in 1949 of Weinzweig's complete Red Ear of Corn (never mind how I got it!....well, it's nowhere near as nefarious or exciting a story. Actually it was for a potential project, OK?!?). I will have to listen to it again (it's been a while), and might consider playing it at some time. Probably the first time it will have been heard in over 70 years if I do.
Yes, that was snow on the ground you saw this past weekend. It's Ottawa.
