Good evening everyone, Many years ago I came across a collection of poems by William Blake. The only one I recognised through its title was "Tyger", which I'd first heard when I was still knee-high to a grasshopper. It wasn't until the mid 1980s that I first heard an album that had been entirely influenced by the poetry of William Blake. It was "Tyger" by Tangerine Dream. Over the years, and with the invaluable assistance of the internet, I discovered that a fair few other musicians have paid similar tribute to Blake's work. Tonight's show features a selection of those recordings. Happy New Year Chris

Hi Chris, Happy 2023! I’m going to tune in to the show tomorrow as I have to be bush-eyed and brighty-tailed or is that bright-tailed and bushy-eyed—reasonably coherent. I’m part of a panel discussion about adults who are learning Braille. I need my sleep or I won’t make any sense tomorrow. As I have often said, thank goodness for ON DEMAND. Have a good show.

Is it just me or can you hear the Zero 7 in the song that was on just before the station ID? Beautiful!

Love this Jah Wobble song--first heard of Jah Wobble thanks to CKCU!

I should clarify here--the "Zero 7" song was played shortly before the first station ID during the show, not the second. There's no Zero 7 in Chariots of Fire.

As I have said many times, THANK GOODNESS FOR ON DEMAND! I really enjoyed this show. As always, lots of songs I'd never heard before--ever-broadening my musical horizons.

Hi Shelley, the tune that played just before the first station ID was Abraham's Tune, by Vangelis and is also taken from the Chariots of Fire. The tune predates Zero 7 by a long way. In theory it is possible that Zero 7 may have used elements of Abrahams Tune in their work, but I haven't found any references to them doing this. It might just be that the instrumentation in the Vangelis tune reminds you of something similar you've heard by Zero 7. Thanks for your feedback about the show, and fortunately it's a dessert that you can always allow yourself a second or third helping to, without ever feeling a bit greedy! :-)
