Hi everyone Welcome to this evening's edition, which commences with a couple of bands that played at last year's Northern Lights Festival Borealis, in Sudbury, Ontario. I've posted a link to The Northern Lights Festival Facebook page which contains some details for this year's festival in July. Enjoy The Show

Death Cab for Cutie…..I was going to see them at Bluesfest, and then, that was the night when the stage collapsed before they took the stage….end of the show….it was the last night of the festival. It ended abruptly.

Evening hb,, and thankfully there's no more need for Sudbury folks to leave town to find CKCU: the internet has brought it to their doors/floors :-)

Doran's beer!! Thunder Bay & Sudbury used to go back & forth as to who drank the most Dorans.... I was "Team Thunder Bay"!;-) Another great Music Town!

I've heard of a band bringing the house down Shelley, but not the stage itself.... - !!

Oh it was somethin’ else. Cheap Trick was on and all of a sudden WHOOSH a wind blew down the stage—the music just sort of disappeared. Needless to say, they have a very stringent safety plan at Bluesfest now.

Yup Chris. It can save us or destroy us. CKCU I see as a great platform to help save us.... Really. 🫒

I’ve never been to Sudbury but one of my best friends is from there. Bedtime stories…a show .where the songs are always strung together so well. I’m still mystified as to which song is the odd one out. Really great variety of songs!

Yes HB—hooray for CKCU! I don’t think i would have heard most of the songs on tonight’s show without the Mighty 93. Love the jazzy song playing now.

Yes, remember when you actually had to GO to a retain place to hear certain radio stations—or wait until late at night when they would crackle in and out? Those were the days.

hb, - sorry to hear that... how unlucky for him to be in the wrong place at the wrong time

The odd one out Shelley: a slightly tricky one (of course) but the odd one out can't become clear (if at all) until you've heard the whole show :-)

Yes I heard that someone was injured in the stage collapse. I was volunteering with Info booth that day. The bad weather just seemed to come out of nowhere. All I remember is the music from the stage dwindled and everyone was running around and shouting but it took a long time before someone told me what had happened. The stage fell backwards and not into the crowd. I was well away from it, but was in the main ‘bowl’ area when it happened. Something I’ll never forget.

used to see The Lights when I was switching at night for the CNR in Thunder Bay...like fuzzy green guitar riffs flashing through your brain! With a rhythm... Beauty!

Thanks hb, yes, that area (and Sudbury) and very occasionally Vancouver too (apparently), despite the light pollution there.
