Bedtime Stories
Tuesday February 9th, 2021 with Chris Lyne
Le Studio, Morin Heights, Quebec - 1972-2003

Built in 1972, the combination of a hi-tec recording facility with tranquil accommodation nearby drew a steady stream of domestic and international artists to its splendid location in the Laurentian hills. For almost 30 years Le Studio, Morin Heights remained one of the most popular recording options for artists from various musical backgrounds. During those years the studios played host to the likes of Cat Stevens, Rainbow, Wilson Pickett, The Police, Chicago, Asia and Rush (for several of their albums). But there were plenty of others too, and, although - relatively speaking - less well known, those artists and bands produced some memorable works of their own there, too. This evening's edition of "Bedtime Stories" takes us right back to that era; we'll discover that there was much more to Le Studio, Morin Heights than just producing albums for the biggest names in popular music.

Good evening everyone, By an odd coincidence, this is the second edition of Bedtime Stories in a row to feature a tune called" The End Of The World." And, according to the lyric of this evening's tune, apparently the end of the real world is scheduled for Tuesday. Hang on a minute, what day is it today... oh, yes, so it is...

Hi Chris, I remember hearing the name Morin Heights a lot when listening to the radio. Oh if it’s walls could only talk! Can’t wait to see what songs will appear tonight.

Hi Shelley, welcome to Le Studio. The buliding's still there, but without a roof. Unsafe to wander around, but you could certainly listen to the walls, if only from the outside.

Where did you find the album Big Houses???!!!!! Interestingly Eight Seconds re-worked this song into “Beyond The Signs—at Christmas Time.” Perhaps my all-time favourite holiday song (1985).

Hi glenn, thanks for popping by to say hi again. Yes, it's up early this morning. French toast, maple syrup from near Rimouski and a fun show to enjoy with it too! :-)

Maybe Beyond the Signs came first—they used a childrens’ choir—the song is absolutely gorgeous.
