Reading: A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny - Chapters 33-36
Last Episode Gamache chats with Em at the bistro. Em feels guilty that no one came to Crie’s rescue when CC was abusing her after the Christmas Eve service. Gamache points out the sad fact that Crie has known nothing but abuse, so a single night wouldn’t have made a difference in her life. The two talk about dark moments from their past. Gamache says that even though he hunts the worst part of humanity, he comes out on the other side appreciating the best in people. EM tells Gamache about the day her husband and son die in a car accident, and the guilt she carried for some time because she had encouraged them to come home that night. We pick the story up from there...
