Plunderphonics
Tuesday October 6th, 2020 with Chris Lyne
Shipshape And Bristol Fashion

In this evening's show we'll be visiting the bustling and artistically vibrant port city of Bristol in England's "West Country". You'll hear artists from Newcastle, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Jersey City, Long Island, Long Beach, Indiana and, as you might have been expecting, from Bristol too. Musically, we'll embark Way Out West and sail across the pond through contrasting moods of light and darkness to end up way out west all over again. Rather enigmatic? Jump aboard and all will become clear by journey's end at 11pm. *Chris Lyne is sitting in for the show's main host Big Shovel. This evening's show began its life as a generic programme to be used as needed anywhere in the CKCU schedule during the pandemic. Since then it's been adapted in places to reflect the original idea of Plunderphonics: to feature the history of music that is made with recordings of pre-existing songs, whether it be hip-hop, dance, experimental, or indie.

Hi Glenn, good evening again....thanks for the story, my grandad came over to Canada around that time too. Bristol's a great city, a bit rough and tumble like many port cities, but well worth a visit. And a Canadian band I'll play towards the end of the show have really taken the city to heart,.

I forgot to mention that Jon Cohen played in Bristol a few years ago at The Mothers Ruin, same venue as The Broken Islands did (earlier in the show).
