We'll hear how an obscure field recording of Burundi tribal drummers in 1967 has been used by a wide range of musicians, producers and DJs in the West over the last 53 years.
We'll also hear how the Drummers of Burundi later played an important part in the history of WOMAD (the World Of Music, Arts And Dance festival) that's been staged in many countries around the world, including Canada, since its inception in 1982.
Due to C-19 this programme was recorded from "Beyond The Pond", July 2020.
* Chris has been a big fan of CKCU since arriving in Ottawa from the UK in 1981. He joined the station later that year and went on to present two shows each week until returning to the UK in autumn 1986. Since then he's made numerous flying visits back to the CKCU studio to present shows or to appear as a guest.
