I did a wiki to find out that `Luther', was actually Luther Perkins. He died after a tragic house fire when he was 40. Apparently he and Johnny were `amphetamines' buddies. They probably stayed up all night and day working on the music.

Carl did have brothers that he played music with. They were in a bad car accident on their way to go play on the Perry Como show. One died a few years later from a brain tumor.

I didn't know Carl had musical brothers, I'll have to look that up. I actually saw Carl play with Johnny at the Ottawa Ex, in I think 1969. It was the whole show with the Carter family and the whole deal. It was in the afternoon outside about 90 degrees. As I remember Carl played a few songs, including Blue Suede Shoes and Matchbox (Blues), a song I knew from the early Beatles.
