Oh yeah, I love Nat before all the production when he became popular. The strings and white back-up singers just don't cut it with me.

Didn't know the Stones basically hijacked this song, and got away with it. (thumb from wiki) ""It's All Over Now" is a song written by Bobby Womack and his sister-in-law Shirley Womack. It was first released by The Valentinos, featuring Bobby Womack, in 1964. The Rolling Stones heard it on its release and quickly recorded a cover version, which became their first number-one hit in the United Kingdom, in July 1964."

Also good for the read, still about It's All Over Now. "Years later, Bobby Womack said in an interview that he had told Sam Cooke he did not want the Rolling Stones to record their version of the song, and that he had told Mick Jagger to get his own song. Cooke convinced him to let the Rolling Stones record the song. Six months later on, after receiving the royalty check for the song, Womack told Cooke that Mick Jagger could have any song he wanted."

The Scarlet Drops were really loud. They emptied the hall we had rented for my mixed stag when I got married. We found all our guests cowering in the coat room.

They were so loud I can remember them knocking a dartboard off the wall in Irene's.

Interesting cat. He was educated, with a university degree in English. But he was plagued by the bottle. He wrote some amazing songs.
