9:38 PM, January 16th, 2020

Renny G (host)
Darg? Isn't that a Norse god? Or was the name of a mighty shield maiden?

12:04 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
Yeah, Ol' Joe was quite an eccentric. Luckily he had the talent to go with the eccentricity.

Richie
Hey Rene! I just tuned in and missed the Hank Davis tune. I have the Stompin' at the Dead Moose LP. I'll have to listen to the OnDemand file to hear that newer version - not unfortunately! Keep on a rockin', Rene!

12:27 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Er... Renny!

12:28 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
Ha! Ha! I'm Rene only when I play zydeco or Cajun music. That's when I'm Rene "Bon Ton Roulet", s'il vous plais!

12:31 AM, January 17th, 2020
David Lewis
Earlier I was listening to a young Bruce Springsteen cover Duke Ellington's "Satin Doll" - back in 1973 when his band included a tuba - so almost hip enough to make it onto RR! Another killer show. Aint nothing like live radio - except live music of course!

12:32 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
Too true, David. Too true.....

12:33 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
I bought a Flat Duo Jets Xmas single for the Xmas song but the B-side is a smoking version of "Caravan".

12:35 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Making me think of Dave Edmunds covering a Springsteen tune - From Small Things . . .

12:37 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Sleepy . . . R.I.P.

12:40 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
Have you ever heard Dave Edmunds playing the "Sabre Dance"? I think it's when he was in Love Sculpture...

12:41 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Yes, Sir. You are correct. I have that on an LP too.

12:44 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
A lot like trying to keep her 88 straight...

12:54 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Amen, Ren. Amen.

1:02 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
I was going to talk about hellfire lapping at their tone deaf ears.....but I didn't want to scare the kiddies.

1:04 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Ha! The kids are alright!

1:06 AM, January 17th, 2020
David Lewis
btw loving how your show confirms the point Miles Davis made - that essentially Rock N Roll comes from Boogie Woogie - or as Keith Richards said "the secret's in the jazz"...Yeah Yeah Yeah Baby!

1:06 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Ello Kiddies?

1:06 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
Hey David. Perhaps the reason the Rolling Stones were the most successful rock band is that they had a swing drummer the whole time.

1:08 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Willie Mabon "I Don't Know" - the original (and better) version the Blues Brothers imitated.

1:17 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
I agree! Have you ever heard his song "I'm Mad". It's sooooooo good!

1:21 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
I'll check that out! Rollins Band "Next Time": Good Cover!

1:24 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Red Hot - Robert Gordon & Link Wray owned it.

1:26 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Doesn't sound like Gordie Johnson . . . Sleep in Late?

1:54 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
My mistake....It's the song "Mother Earth" by Whiskey Howl....I had the wrong track cued up. Apologies.....

1:55 AM, January 17th, 2020
RIchie
's all good, man!

1:59 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
That first Big Sugar album . . . great!

2:00 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G (host)
Yeah, I agree with you there. It's a great album. Have you ever seen the band live? LOUDEST BAND EVER!

2:07 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
Yes - Memorably at the Penguin Club (1994?). They could be partly responsible for my hearing loss . . .

2:47 AM, January 17th, 2020
Richie
They also opened for Blue Rodeo at Centrepoint theater the same year. I was on the mezzanine - and had no problem hearing them, then.

2:51 AM, January 17th, 2020
Renny G.
