Jon Tattrie on the Nova Scotia history of "Redemption Song" and the giant legacy of Charles R. Saunders

Nova Scotian writer Jon Tattrie traced the intriguing history of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" from 1979 in Jamaica back to a speech in Sydney, NS in 1937. His current project is perhaps just as fascinating. American-born Charles Saunders came to Canada to avoid the Vietnam War, was a founding father of a Black-centred fantasy genre he called "Sword and Soul", and then became a towering figure as a columnist for the Halifax Daily News. Tattrie is exploring the lives of Charles Saunders for his next book. AND: he wants to hear from anyone who remembers Charles Saunders from his time in Ottawa, teaching at Carleton and at Algonquin College.
