Gentler Times by Maria Hawkins

I was meant for gentler times
For flowers and songs and pretty rhymes
And knights that rode on horses steady
Of laughter strong and merry
If I could return to those days
Not caring what sorrow befall me
If I should stay a thousand or more
I'd not remember one
I spent upon this shore

I a young maid so full of life
Met a king and became his wife
Enjoying autumn winds and summer breezes
Avoiding sorrows – oh how youth deceives us
Another time, another place
a garden, a friendly face
a love not known since then
A heart of steel
No ordinary man

Please time, allow me
Return to those days of real romance
to sword and shield and lance
Where once I loved so long ago
Where only in my dreams I am able to go
I give you my strength and my desire
I risk hell's great fire
For a place in time that I have been
A time that shall not return again

Those times have not been forgotten
They've changed
And there lies my heart broken

If I could change my circumstance
Reclaim the days of plentiful romance
Oh bring me back through times' great door
Through springs and falls to him once more
For I was meant for gentler times
The kind you read in nursery rhymes
And I know in one life that I have lived
Upon the crest of a great hill...

...that man lives there still...

"Find out how life took its first steps onto land. Discover Tiktaalik, an iconic fossil that helps us understand how fins became limbs—on view for the first time in Canada.

Before dinosaurs ruled the Earth, life was taking its first steps onto land.

Life onto Land: The Devonian, invites visitors to explore this incredible world through rare fossils, and artistic reconstructions, including a model of Tiktaalik roseae, a fascinating creature connecting fish to four-limbed animals like us.

If you enjoy fossils and dinosaurs, don’t miss this extraordinary look at the origins of life on land."
