| Conversation & Performance with Nyx and Lightsmith
Nyx and Lightsmith (Maddy O'Regan and Ethan Mitchell) do what few artists can do - bring soulful, heartwarming (and sometimes heart wrenching) music to their shows. With a focus on genuine emotion and relatable storytelling, their performances leave a lasting impression, showcasing the power of music to create connections and evoke profound emotions. The duo draws on diverse influences from alternative, folk, and country. They cite artists like Alex G, Phoebe Bridgers, Nick Drake, Tom Waits as well as Gillian Welch, Colter Wall and Nick Shoulders among their recent inspirations. After a sold-out first show, the pair joined Old Man Luedecke at Red Bird in 2023 and made their festival debut at the Ottawa Grassroots Festival that same year. They've performed alongside other great acts such as Moonfruits, Mia Kelly, Oddeline, Kristine St-Pierre, and Annie Martel. With the help of fellow artist, Marianne Keuleman (Oddeline), their debut EP 'Similes' is anticipated to be released fall 2024. Upcoming show: August 8th at Red Bird with Moonfruits. A bit about the show: After a wonderful show together back in October at Stray Dog Brewery, we are heading to the fantastic Red Bird stage.
