Raphael Weinroth-Browne - s/t Canadian
Canadian cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne has forged a unique career and international reputation as a result of his musical creativity and versatility. Not confined to a single genre or project, his musical activities encompass a multitude of styles and combine influences from contemporary classical, Middle Eastern, and progressive metal music. As a solo artist and with his acclaimed cello/voice duo The Visit, he incorporates unusual tunings and techniques with electronic effects, redefining expectations of how the instrument should sound. In kamanche-cello ensemble Kamancello, he embraces instinct and spontaneity in the duo’s fully improvised performances. With the Norwegian progressive metal/rock band Leprous, he has successfully integrated classical-style cello playing and his own unique sound into the band’s music, both live and in studio. Raphael’s debut solo album Worlds Within was released in 2020 to great critical acclaim.

The Dreadnoughts - Into the North Canadian New
The Dreadnoughts have just announced their new single Battleford 1885 to support the release of their upcoming full length out June 24th on Stomp Records. Battleford is a straight forward, catchy punk song that deals with the tragic judicial murder-by-hanging of eight Cree men after the Northwest Rebellion in Saskatchewan, Canada. Reflecting on the meaning behind the advance single Battleford 1885 lead singer Nicholas Smyth remarks,”Celtic punk as a genre contains a lot of ‘rebel songs’, mainly about Irish guys who lived between 1848-1920. But we're a Canadian band, and we're realizing that we want our rebel songs to be about Canadian rebels. Battleford 1885 is about the last mass hanging in our country's history. Eight aboriginal men were executed for a minor rebellion they'd staged against local white authorities, and of course as you might guess it turns out that many of those authority figures had been complete shit-heads to the local population. This song is a tribute to eight real Canadian Rebels, and more generally to Aboriginal Canadians and to their fighting spirit”.

Amanda Rheaume - The Spaces In Between Canadian New
Amanda Rheaume’s sixth album explores the Metis identity as experienced by Rheaume, and we hear Métis leader Tony Belcourt share his views in the spoken interludes. The Spaces In Between blends historical moments with Rheaume's personal experience.

"The interludes tell parts of the Métis history and experience. To me, we need to go back to the old ways, to our teachings, to understand where we are now and where we can go together. The Métis experience is often under-represented. It is my hope that this album and the interludes can *shine a light on the complexities of mixed identity and offer comfort and belonging to anyone struggling to find and celebrate their place, " states Rheaume.

Produced and mixed JUNO Award-winning Hill Kourkoutis, The Spaces in Between, brought together ShoShona Kish, Kinnie Starr, Sierra Noble, Serena Ryder, and Anna Ruddick. Métis activist and visual artist Christi Belcourt also contributed artwork to the album.
