Atlantis Gary Comeau - Ten Guitars |
Paul Johanis and Denny Wellburn join us in the studio just after 8 am, with the new album, Ten Guitars, and his guitar!
This Thursday, August 30th the CD release and fundraiser takes place at The Prescott Hotel in the lower banquet room. 7:30 pm Conceived of by Danny Welburn and with the event co-organized by Paul Johanis, Ten Guitars is a compilation album featuring instrumental works of ten different guitar. 1. Get Around Hound, Dan Deslauriers 2. Moonlight Walk, Gib Rozon 3. Pipeline, Denny Welburn 4. Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Stéphane Coulombe 5. Rose Room, Paul Johanis 6. Breezy, Dan Desjardins 7. Atlantis, Gary Comeau 8. Chicken Fried Pickin', Yvan Petit 9. A Lazy Day, Bob Schwartz 10. The Last Flight of La Vigilance, Terry Tufts 11. Round and Round, Don Norman Denny Welburn had this idea of doing an album of guitar instrumentals, with ten different guitarists doing ten different instrumentals. Just because it would be cool. We called it Ten Guitars. It took a little over six months to come together, with the involvement of guitarists (plus horn, keyboard, bass players and drummers) from Ottawa and all up and down the valley on both the Quebec and Ontario sides of the river. As the album neared completion and thought of how to market and distribute it came to the fore, the idea of making it a fundraiser for a charity started to emerge. Denny then remembered that music was an important element of memory care and suggested that maybe the Alzheimer Society would be a good charity to support. He quickly canvassed the musicians and all agreed it was a great idea. We contacted the local chapter of the Alzheimer Society and they were more than happy to support it. So this album is officially a fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society and they have given us the permission to put the following statement on the CD cover and online. All proceeds from the sale of this CD will be donated to: The Alzheimer Society Serving Ottawa and Renfrew County https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/tenguitars/Atlantis#.W4HsUGr7U48.facebook |
