Feature interview with poet, novelist, essayist, artist and actor Tomás RODRIGUEZ, who is originally from the Dominican Republic, now based in Québec.

Tomás Rodríguez was born in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. He was a co-founder of the political movement called Independent Advanced Youth (JAI). He has written several books, among them being the novel, "Final Inesperado," and a book of songs and poems called "Luz y Sombra". He is also the author of "Heading Aimlessly – Rumbo sin Rumbo", which is a compilation of articles, poems and a short story. And also, the author of "From Going Barefoot to Prime Ministers and Presidents" (De Pies Descalzos, a Codearse con Primeros Ministros y Presidentes) - his autobiography, (2024). In addition, he co-authored, "Borealis: El Dorado Literary Anthology (2011), and "Surinorte", an anthology of poetry (2024). Besides his literary accomplishments, he has been a singer, composer, and actor. He has also written a variety of articles for local journals. He is also the creator of a large video production of twenty-seven songs, all stages being directly under his control. He speaks four languages: Spanish, French, German, and English. Majoring in social studies, he was a student for a couple of years at, Universidad Central del Este (DR). Besides having a radio broadcasting degree, he worked as a social worker back in his native land. Along with having written several theatre pieces, he was co-founder of the theatre group Fifth Dimension, and the founder of another theatre group in Canada, called the Hispano-American Theater Group of Ottawa. He was also co-founder of three distinct organizations: the cinematography group Nupcias 24, the comedy group, The Owners of Laughing, and the Dominican Cultural Association (Canada). He was privileged to be one of the nominees for the Sr. Oscar De La Renta Dominican Emigrant Award (2019).
