En cette année où la lecture est déclarée grande cause nationale, les éditeurs du Syndicat National de l’Édition ont voulu collectivement créer un nouveau festival, le Festival du Livre de Paris. Pour renouer avec l’énergie vitale du premier salon du livre, retrouver le sens de la fête et permettre à tous les acteurs de la chaîne du livre, auteurs, éditeurs, libraires… de célébrer le livre — tous les livres— et la lecture, sous toutes ses formes. Join us at the Cultural Centre to meet eleven Canadian authors published in France by Canadian publishers, for an incredible evening of literary encounters. The event will be followed by a book-signing in collaboration with the Librairie du Québec in Paris. Lineup: * THE CLIMATE CRISIS On Earth Day, fiction, non-fiction and comics will come together around a fundamental issue: the climate crisis. Christian Guay-Poliquin (Shooting Shadows, La Peuplade), Anne-Marie Saint-Cerny (Mégantic : Une tragédie annoncée and Mégantic, un train dans la nuit, Écosociété) and Laurence Hansen-Løve (Planète en ébullition : Écologie, féminisme et responsabilité, Écosociété) will discuss the influence of climate change on their writing and their works.
Moderator: Sophie Quetteville * THE THRILLER What is the right recipe for a thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end? Victoria Charlton and Tristan Saule will discuss the tips and tricks that have helped them create their works, including new releases Et tombent les têtes (Éditions de l’Homme) and Héroïne (Le Quartanier). * SOURCES OF INSPIRATION What inspires authors? Art? Love? The experience of the other? Come hear Alain Farah, who offers an autobiographical novel in which drama and comedy are inseparable in Mille secrets, mille dangers (Le Quartanier), Larry Tremblay, who was freely inspired by the life of Francis Bacon in A Last Painting of Love (La Peuplade) and Felicia Mihali, who takes readers on a journey to the Great Canadian North in Pineapple Kisses in Iqaluit (Éditions Hashtag).
Moderation: Zoé Courtois * OPENNESS ON THE WORLD How do women authors’ views of humanity transform writing? Come hear Catherine Perrin who, in Trois réveils (XYZ), speaks to us with intelligence and delicacy about art and human beings encountered on the street and, in L’âge des accidents (XYZ), offers us a fertile fiction where hope emerges through human links; Danielle Dussault‘s collection Donnez des ailes (Éditions de L’instant même) is a collection of short texts about the community of the 10th arrondissement of Paris; and Pauline Gélinas‘ politico-historical saga La Brochure (Québec Amérique) presents the moving destinies of Ukrainian immigrants, Aboriginals and Métis people.
