Friederike Knabe in conversation about Mark SAKAMOTO’s great novel ‘Forgiveness. A Gift from My Grandparents’ (Hatper/Collins) which won this year‘s Canada reads competition. Followed by her impressions of the Leipzig Book Fair (Germany) where Esther KINSKY was awarded the prestigious Preis der Leipziger Buchmesse for her novel ‘Hain. Geländeroman’ (Suhrkamp, 2018). The show deals furthermore with the impressive presence of Russian writers at the Salon du Livre in Paris, including Ludmilla Jewgenjewna ULITSKSYA, Boris AKUNIN (né Gregory Shalovich Chkhartisvili) and Vladimir Georgiyevich SOROKIN. Finally, kudos to Georgette LEBLANC who is the Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate for 2018 as well as the official poet laureate of Canada.
