We will hear a clip of Jesse and his JUMP! radio Morning Crew cohosts Jenna and Gord from a few years back when they called Mom to get the tea on the short relationship they had circa 1974 while he attended Colonel By Secondary School in Gloucester, here in Ottawa Ontario! My brother Jesse is famous! Jesse Reynolds is an award-winning comedian, actor, and former morning radio host now based in Kingston. A Global News journalist by day, and a stand-up comic by night, Jess is known for his razor-sharp wit and high-energy stage presence. From radio mornings to TV news (5:30, 6:30 & 11pm om CKWS-TV), and even some Hallmark movies too - you can see him in 'Obsessed to Death', and 'Jane Mysteries 4' streaming online. jessereynolds.ca |
Summer of 69 Bryan Adams - |
Jesse shares a cover of Donna by Richie Valens, which I in fact do fight him on - why try when the Richie Valens version is perfect??? Can't have a siblings show without any rivalry, can we?
After that we get a bit silly with some childhood memories and obsession with Disney's The Little Mermaid growing up. Ursula the Sea Witch became an obsession for Jesse, and I think when he portrayed her in a school play at 11 years old, I think we all knew he would be gay! The Ursula character was of course inspired by iconic drag queen, singer and actor Divine. Divine catapulted to cult fame after appearing in Pink Flamingos, John Waters’ filthy 1972 comedy. |

You Are My Sunshine Jackie Shane - ![]() |
While Jackie's version of You are my Sunshine is a bit different than the original Mom sang to us, I wanted to share it here.
We are all thankful to Donna for being the best gay Mom, who always encouraged Jesse to be himself, and attending Pride and any of his shows and events, and loved making friends with Drag Queens, including Ottawa's own China Doll! Mom was always supporting us in doing what we wanted and we will remember that fondly. In August 2021 when we were scattering her ashes at sunset in Lake Ontario, we heard some faint music on the shore to the left, and realized it was someone sitting on the rocks singing and playing the song Hasn't Hit Me Yet by Blue Rodeo, so this one will always be dear to our hearts. |

Thank you everyone! Sending love to all the mothers on Mother's Day, and hugs to all those who have lost their Mothers.
Take care all |
Sending some love from Drake and me to you all on this day. Those we lose live on through our remembrances and celebrations of their lives well lived. I am celebrating my Mom too.
