McEwen's Munificence - MBV, Bobby Boeausoleil, John Hassell, etc.

This show is another installment of 'McEwen's Munificence', or 'Bruce's Benevolence'. Many thnks go out to the man for supplying the first hour and a half (or so) of material for this episode of the Nightwatch.
Starting out, we are finally able to sample the new offering from My Bloody Valentine after more than 20 years.

Now onto some esoteric sides, starting out with an offering from avante-garde trumpeter Michael Mantler, and his mid-80's collaboration with Mothers of Invention keybdist, Don Preston. We finish with late american cellist Arthur Russel, and an LP he released in 1984.

Now onto the first feature - the new Bobby Beausoleil LP, 'Orb'. Beausoleil is a "former associate of the Charles Manson "Family" who is serving a life sentence in prison for the murder of music teacher and associate Gary Hinman" but has been able to make music, definitely darker and more current-culture-relevant than anything Manson ever did. Since I'm only playing excepts, it seemed only approriate to play the 4 parts of 'In the Temple of The Moon', ironically starting at midnight.
In the Temple of the Moon (Pt. 1)

And we finish Bruce's contributions with the latest LP from 'tribal ambient/jazz' trumpeter Jon Hassell! Special thanks to Nightwatch 'deputy' for supplying all this great music!

Now, onto a sets of 'general music' before the usual 'album feature' to finish the Nightwatch, starting by upping the intensity signifigantly with Fredricton's Exploding Meet. Then we get progressively (heh) more jazzy .
