Alnoor Allidina presents a program of music recorded in concert, in the city that never sleeps. Over the course of the program, we will hear live recordings made between the fifties and the two thousands (what's that decade called anyways?)
New York-based Fania records released a number of influential salsa and latin jazz recordings in the sixties and seventies. Many of these were live recordings featuring a rotating cast of heavies known as the Fania All-Stars. In 1968, they made their recording debut at the Red Garter. Lucky for us, large portions of the Fania catalog have been re-issued in the last few years. |
