With the recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery erupting into protests across the U.S.A., and the world against racism and police brutality, the joy of being Black has felt stolen from her. So I’m starting the show with a set that celebrates joy, because as Diaz writes, we can’t let them hijack happiness. And sometimes expressing and living with joy is a radical act. |
