More minimalism (does that even make sense?! ;^), an important new release, beats and dubby-trippy-ness from all over. Enjoy!

Today's ride takes us from contemplative, stripped down sounds, to some trippy-dubby-ness, to juicy big Afrobeats from all around. And, a full play of a terrific new work from up north. Lots of long sets, and long tracks. Less yacks, more tracks. How we like it! Please hit us up on the Interactive Thingy (over there ==>). We'd love to hear from you!!

As we have recently, starting off with some very stripped down sounds. This time from John Cage, and Robert Fripp plus David Cross.

An important new release coming up from Tanya Tagaq! Full release is slated for 2016-Oct-21. We'll play the whole darned thing, top to bottom today.

It is packed with new sounds, collaborations from around the planet, deep politics, and powerful messages. From the promo material: "Why sugarcoat it. This album is about rape. Rape of women, rape of the land, rape of children, despoiling of traditional lands without consent. ... portrait of a violent world in crisis, hovering on the brink of destruction. ... Money has spent us."

Tanya Tagaq will be performing at NAC on Sat November 27, 7:30 pm. She is mind melting live, and will variously enrapture and make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, often at the same time.

The Tanya Tagaq was amazing! Thanks for playing it. I still don't care for the track with Shad, but the rest was great.

Hey PB! Just tuning in, and I regret that I missed the experimental Ravi Shankar. Or is this it now?

I'll just answer my own question here and then show m'self out. It wasn't, since you didn't have any rap after Ravi. You had instead the Gaudi/Ghandi/Nusrat tune, of which I am a longtime fan.

It is a VERY challenging listen, for sure, but rewarding!

The Shankar? Huh. I'll have to check it out On Demand!

... After the fact ... To clarify. The Tanya Tagaq is very challenging, and alarming, and amazing. Ravi is always amazing. Hope that clears up any confusion, and generates different confusion. q;^)
