Tonights show is a throwback... Yep!! The Detour Shows are back.
Since the inception of Vintage Love, I have at least a few times per year steered the show in another direction.... playing R&B, Soul and other genres that Reggae has borrowed from or vice versa. So after a 4yr absence.... The Detour is back. One of the reasons for such a long hiatus was my 2nd show called After Hours. After Hours aired for approximately one year and followed Vintage Love immediately.... turning into 4 hours of radio fun.. well at least for me and hopefully for you. However After Hours came to an end in 2017 and so thus ended a separate show that featured R&B and Soul music.
So since around the beginning of this year, I have been thinking to re-institute The Detour shows back into the regular rotation of Vintage Love. Something about today set it in my mind that today was the day to bring it back. Maybe it was my mood... maybe it was the cloudy, dreary, sometimes rainy day... or maybe it was the sobering thought... tomorrow is never promised.. so do what you will... today. So said so done. The last such show aired on March 1st, 2014 a show called "Midnight Marauder"... the last of the Detour shows.. until tonight!!! Approx. 4 yrs... gone but back again.
So hopefully you will enjoy the show tonight... yes a bit of a detour from the normal predominantly Reggae show but hopefully some music that you will enjoy none the less.
On tonights show as we return to the Detour show.... we feature Chaka Khan, Billy Joel, Sygnature, Wham!, Natalie Cole... a momentary return to Reggae with Mikey Spice as we celebrate birthdays tonight. Also, Vanessa Williams, Luther Vandross, Natalie Cole and L.T.D. Some great music for your Saturday night.
Thank you for tuning in and for re-visiting the show On Demand. It was a pretty busy night with emails, phone calls and the Interactive Menu so I will deduce that you were happy with the Detour themed shows return. I hope so.
Birthday greetings going out to Sophie, Melvin and Sonia.. and to you if you are about to.. or just recently celebrated another anniversary of life. Happy Birthday to you.
