Happy Fathers Day to all "Dads".. not just because you planted a seed but because you were there to clear the weeds away, to water and nurture, fertilize, feed and guide those seeds to mature healthy beings. We stand and salute you in thanks for the sacrifices you made for your children. So to you, a heartfelt Happy Fathers Day.
Now to my Pops (who is holding me in the picture for this week -- oh lets say circa 20 some odd years ago - Benjamin Button I am haha (no comments please) :-) Dad, this is for you:
Although we have disagreed
On some things here and there
I thank you for all the years
Of all your love and care
Without you I would not have seen
This great country sea to sea
Nor might I have gone to school
To be educated like “Squee”
In this world suffering from what seems
A lack of common sense
You instilled in me
Some true and thoughtful sense.
You taught me how to count and read
How to draw and how to sing
And so many more things
That the world of art can bring.
In large part this show culminates in
These things and true for sure,
Without those lessons from youth to now
This Vintage Love would not endure.
So thank you Dad.. or Pops I say,
For guiding me thus far.
I promise to do my best
To honour your bright and shining star
Thank you for your discipline
For without, manners might not be.
Thank you for your protection
For a victim of something I could be
Thank you for your hard work
Staying up with sick ole me
Even though early in the morning
For work you would have to leave
These sacrifices one and all
Too much to mention here
Will ensure your place in my heart
And it shall be forever dear.
Happy Fathers Day Dad. I love you.
Until next time... may the blessings of peace and love be with us all.
Wishing you a good day, good evening and.... goodnight,
:-)

It goes without saying that this song has to play on Fathers Day. Covering Luther Vandross, this is Don Campbell with "Dance With My Father" the reggae version to start out the show tonight. You are tuned to Vintage Love on the Mighty 9-3-1. |

A sad song but one that demonstrates the love of a father for his son who did go far too soon. This is Sadiki covering Eric Clapton who lost his young son, Conor to a tragic accident. This song reached #2 on the Billboard Charts for Mr. Clapton back in 1992. But I am sure he would have traded it all for more time with his boy. Sadiki spins this into a sweet reggae version here on CKCU. |

Another call to play something for the Fathers in Janet's life. So out to Worrel, Buntee and Boisee , this is Sanchez singing what you are, "One In A Million". Happy Fathers Day guys. |

Requested by Wayne when he called into the station. I didnt know which song he was referring to right away because he could not remember the title of the song but we finally figured it out. A great request.. a great song for Wayne. Thank you for tuning in to your "favorite show" as he says. I hope you enjoyed this classic tune. I thought I would add to this little Fathers Day gift to you by backing this up with Delroy Wilsons reggae version. So a twin spin for you. Thank you for calling in. |

The ever-smooth voice of Bitty McLean gently rolling over this cooled out riddim... singing a classic called "Daddy's Home". This is love music done only the way... only with the vocal, lyrical and production precision... that of Bitty McLean! |

I messed up this request last week for some Pat Kelly. Junior my apologies.. I thought you had called back and changed your request. So tonight some Pat Kelly for you. Hopefully this makes up for the fumble last week. :-) |

One of TSWL's favorite songs of all time. Thanks for writing on the Interactive Menu tonight. I hope you enjoyed this reggae version with two of the greats; Jackie Edwards and Hortense Ellis. |

A BIG tune.. played in reggae a few minutes ago. Made me think you might want to hear (as I did) the Jackson 5 version. So here you go.. a double spin of "Daddy's Home", one in Reggae and one in R&B. |

Ruby called at the outset of the show and requested.... boy.. a group that I love but have not heard on the radio in... must be years. So I was very glad to play this for you. A group synonymous with love music in the world of Soul and R&B. This is one of their great hits, "Tender Love", by request here on CKCU 93.1FM |

The hours between 10pm and 12 midnight go ohhh so quickly... too quickly for my liking. As we start to slow it down. I usually reserve the instrumental tracks for the start of the show but on this, the eve of Fathers Day, I thought that maybe a few Dads' might get a Pre-Fathers Day dance from their loves... who knows. I tried for ya fellas. Please let me know if it worked. :-) |

Continuing with our celebration of Dad's on the eve of Fathers Day 2014. A caller mentioned that their Dad had passed away some time ago and I thought for those in this same boat.. I thought I would play this song by Michael Jackson honoring those Dads who are no longer with us. |
