Interviews: Toke, Hatta Clapz, Maga Dog, TrixStar, Music Dropped into my mailbox at reggaeinthefields@gmail.com European Edition
TÓKE
“Tóke is an Indonesian-German Reggae Singer- & Songwriter born in Jakarta, Indonesia and raised in the suburbs of Hamburg, Germany.
Following his roots to Southeast Asia, Tóke is named after an Indonesian gecko who‘s sound „Tokeeeeeeh! Tokeeeeeeeh!“ naturally surrounded him in his early childhood years and influenced his acoustic perception from the day he was born.
Tóke is an artist who is constantly in search of the ideal translation of the inexplicable into sound, groove and words, exposing his thoughts and offering his perspectives on various topics to the world. Tóke‘s music is a deeply intense, rebellious and questioning mixture of Reggae, Singer- Songwriter and Soul. Paying homage to the motherland of his beloved Reggae Music, he uses Jamaican Patois besides English to transmit messages of self-reflection, positivity and spirituality.
„I have a vision in my eyes, see mi deya pon stage, bringing di riddim and sound!“ - from the song „Troddin‘ With A Vision“
After seeing uprising Jamaican Reggae artist „Chronixx“ elaborating on his personal motivation to be an artist in an Interview, Tóke felt the itch and decided to put all his strength into his first solo production.
„You get to the point that your dreams become your nightmares if you don‘t fulfill them…“ - Chronixx, OnStage Interview with Winford Williams
Accordingly, the 22 year old artist is bringing out his Debut EP called „Troddin‘ With A Vision“ this July 13th 2014, which will reveal many facets of Tóke‘s talents, exposing his versatility and multiinstrumentality in a solid, completely self-produced 6-Track acoustic Reggae/ Singer- Songwriter EP.
Every song was written, composed and arranged by Tóke, every instrument was played and recorded live by Tóke, except of the Drums, Percussions and the memorable Saxophone in the title track „Troddin‘ With A Vision“. Understanding that one has to be versatile as an independent artist, Tóke got involved in various fields exceeding the realms of simply making music, including mixing the EP and Video-editing.
Next Sunday, July 6th is the premier date of the official video for the single „Troddin‘ With A Vision“, which was filmed and edited by Tim Seckerdieck and co-edited by Tóke. (youtube.com/tokemusicofficial).
„I have a vision now and so I plant di seeds dem and let music prosper and spread out to every region“ - from the song „Troddin‘ With A Vision“
Tóke is ready for the game and this EP is just the first milestone for a bright musical future. Now the seeds have been sown, his music is ready to prosper and spread out to the world.”

TRIXSTAR
“At the early age of 15, the talented female Persian Artist, TriXstar started making music with a great passion. Her love for music and her unique beautiful voice were first dedicated to HipHop but soon turned over to MCing over Drum and Bass and then finally to Dancehall Music.
TriXstar has been hooked on dancehall from that day on. Not love at first sight, but more like love at first listen. TriXstar came out with a bang and in her the early stages of her career, she worked with various international artists and found a great response inside the web-community.
TriXstar began travelling and performing in Germany, Sweden, Austria and Italy, with songs like “Tonight“ or “Dancehall Style“, which are published on Soundcloud and Reverbnation. In 2011 TriXstar supported the young fashion label “Conscious Clothings” from Vienna/and Austria with the claim,” Be aware of what you wear and what you represent!“.
Conscious Clothings helped to promote TriXstar's music in Vienna's dancehall scene. She performed with several artists from Vienna and Jamaica, like Emiliano Vitek and Jah Vinci.
TriXstar also played the live support for Busy Signal in Vienna's Volksgarten.
Since the summer of 2011 you can listen to her powerful tune “Blazin Fire” on the Billboard riddim selection, which is produced by Luke Rich and released on Bassrunner music.
Back in Germany TriXstar performed on the reggae floor at Juicy Beats Festival in Dortmund for the first time. Juicy Beats is one of the biggest electronic music festivals in Germany.
In the end of 2011 she published her first song Beautiful Day (Dixi Riddim selection/Bassrunner) and showed the potential and talent of being a very successful, international artist. This resulted into her first tour in 2012, Blazin Fire Austria, where she successfully presented German dancehall abroad.
The following summer, her video Beautiful Day was launched, followed by the song New Era with Boomrush. TriXstar mostly relates to Dancehall and Reggae, with tunes like "When Lovin Takes A Place". She stepped out of the pattern and demonstrated her musical abilities and her awareness of the real roots of Reggae with a Rock Steady Riddim.
TriXstar express a great love for the people through the love of Reggae and Dancehall music. By interacting with the people in her community and spreading love. This beautiful and passionate artist seizes every moment to play with bands, work with artists at every moment possible. Music is her life, and she lives music.
Her energetic live performances and sizzling warm up shows are well known all over Europe. TriXstar has performed everywhere from Switzerland to Belgium. From Austria to the Netherlands. From Italy to Sweden.
Whether it’s a festival show, a radio broadcast, Hip Hop club, sounds system show or backed by a live band, TriXstar will give the people nothing but music! When she gets a mic, she sets it on fire!
TriXstar definitely is the uncrowned Queen of Dancehall in Germany when it comes to singing and deejaying lyrics. With her beautiful voice, soothing melodies, and atmospheric lyrics, she offers quite a something to everyone.
This phenomenal artist gives you conscious music along with music that will make you just wana dance all night long, to music that would make you wana fall in love. TriXstar does it all and more! She loves working and collaborating with artists from various nationalities as she knows and believes that music has no boundaries and music is her way of connecting with and touching people.
Busy in the studio and being the hard worker that she is, Trix is working on her first solo album to give the music world her ongoing passion for her way of life, which is love and music.
TriXstar continues to work and push hard because of the mindset she has, which is, music being her life, her purpose and her mission. And with music being her weapon, she works night and day to spread love and change the world in a positive way.
You can catch the Terrorist of Love, either performing somewhere in Germany or recording a new song in a studio. Some of her great and personal highlights of last year are guest appearances on Ganja man’s Showcase at Reggae Jam 2013.Warm up shows for Christopher Martin, Left Side, Romain Virgo at Rude 7, Mannheim, Germany, just to name a few.
The future is bright for this young and rising talent. Her beautiful smile, her warm spirit, loving heart and lioness of a soul, puts her in a category all by herself. A refreshing sound it is, to the ears of music lovers when a young woman is giving the world love through music. Ladies and gentlemen, the dance hall terrorist herself, the one and the only...TriXstar!”

MAGADOG
“MagaDog are an Italian reggae band formed in 2005 in Pescara. Their debut release called MagaDog was mixed and mastered by the veteran producer and dub specialist Madaski. It was released in 2008 on the independent label Bizzarri Records, same as the following album Il nostro stile in 2011.
MagaDog have worked with a number of reggae and non-reggae artists, including Jah Sun, Africa Unite, Lion D, Modena City Ramblers, Jamafrica, Raphael, Miss Linda, Ras Hobo, Gioman & Killacat, Ras Tewelde and many others.
MagaDog are also a production team centered on Pietro Di Domizio, Claudio Bollini and Don Tino. The latest two singles - Time to Stand Up and Call It Weed - are strongly influenced by their militant and spiritual roots.
The third album will be released in may 2015 and will represent a big step forward both musically and because of the use of English as the main language, to spread their message to a wider audience.”
Biography
HATTA CLAPZ
“Hatta Clapz are Hannover based Jamaican vocalist Singin Gold – known for his previous work with Symbiz Sound – and FedUpFaction – bass music producer and Trust In Bass resident DJ from Osnabrück, Germany.
Having developed their respective styles throughout the years, Singin Gold and FedUpFaction realized that together they could create something different. In 2012, “Joyride” was their first collective venture into linking bass music and Jamaican dancehall vocals.
Hatta Clapz is their way of sending out positive energy with a powerful sub bass. To both, it’s not about genres. Dancehall, Drum and Bass, Trap, Footwork or Dubstep – If the beat feels right, it’s a Hatta Clapz thing.
Singin Gold has been at it for more than two decades. The Jamaican born singer tried his hand at church choir, before taking off for Europe. In 2010 he started experimenting with new dancehall sounds, in collaboration with German dubstep act Symbiz Sound on the “Warrior EP” and “Marchin On”. He went on to work with Stunnah on “Cold” and “Stressfree” feat. Yah Meek. Singin Gold always keeps an open mind about future beats to come.
As a producer duo, FedUpFaction have written tunes ranging from trip hop to dubstep to drum and bass and shaped their own style over the course of a decade. Playing (and hosting) the Trust In Bass nights in Osnabrück has left a deep mark on their sound. While today, Norman is focused on his solo work, Raphael continues to craft clear-cut beats, accompanied by a strong sub bass line and the feeling for when a tune is right for the dancefloor.”
