Tribute to Kris Kristofferson (June 22, 1936-Septemeber 28, 2024)

Singer-songwriter, musician and actor Kris Kristofferson died at his home in Maui, Hawaii, on Saturday, September 28th at his home in Maui, Hawaii. He was 88 years old. Kristofferson died peacefully, surrounded by his family. No cause was given, though he was known to have suffered from dementia in his final years. Kristofferson was a pioneering figure in the outlaw country movement of the 1970s, moving away from the polished Nashville sound and toward a more raw, introspective style. He was a three-time Grammy Award winner, with 13 total nominations. Among his songwriting credits are "Me and Bobby McGee", "For the Good Times", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", and "Help Me Make It Through the Night", all of which became hits for other artists, including Janis Joplin, Ray Price and Johnny Cash. After breaking out as a musician, he had a successful second career in movies, acting in films including "A Star Is Born" and Martin Scorsese’s "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore."
