It’s Saturday Sept 28 and that means a couple of things for my day… first I get to bring music to your ears, here on CKCU, the Back 40, and second, i get to bring music to your ears, tonight at Red Bird along with my whole country band, Pat Moore and the Vinyl Frontier. CAn’t wait. First - a new song from Zachary Lucky, this is his song Ramblin’ Kind - just released! And I’ll follow that up with another new song from his upcoming CD release, the song’s called Jasper. Next, Johnnie & Jack were an American country music duo, composed of Johnnie Wright (1914–2011) and Jack Anglin (1916–1963).[1] The duo became members of the Grand Ole Opry in the 1940s.[2] Between 1951 and 1962, the duo released several singles on the RCA Victor Records label, including their version of "Goodnite, Sweetheart, Goodnite" which peaked at No. 4 on the Best Seller charts,[3] and the No. 1 "(Oh Baby Mine) I Get So Lonely".[1] Following Anglin's death in a car accident in 1963,[1] Wright became a solo artist, topping the country charts in 1965 with "Hello Vietnam Have you seen (on TV) Floyd’s Country Store? I heard this gem on that show - I’ve played it for you before but came across it in my files and thought I’d share it again… Sarah Kate Morgan with Will You Go Dancin'. It's so nice to have a few happy songs. :) Melissa Hucul and Mark Evenchick put out an album this year, and I thought I’d play a song for you from it now, it’s one of Melissa’s own compositions called One of the Walking Wounded. That sent me on a "homeless songs" journey. I had a most wonderful gig experience a few weeks back opening for Kristine Schmidt in an amazing barn in Janetsville, north of Peterborough. The show was put together by Pat Temple, a wonderful blues/country blues singer songwriter from that area, and in the audience, a neighbour to the venue was Russell deCarle, with whom I traded CDs… So I’m going to play a couple of songs for you from Russell, Kristine, and Pat Temple. Let’s see what we can get through in these last 20is minutes. Finally - Just a heads up that our annual Funding Drive is coming up in November! Have a great weekend
