Kristine St-Pierre, Catriona Sturton, Tom Deadman ("Save the Trees in Old Ottawa East" campaign)

* Kristine St-Pierre and Catriona Sturton drop by the studio to chat and perform. They are in a concert in Ottawa tomorrow evening (Sunday, Aug. 5th) at Live on Elgin on a bill with Violet Bell, a fascinating duo from North Carolina. * Kristine St-Pierre is also participating in a free "She's Listening" concert next Sunday, Aug. 12 at 1:00 pm at Stray Dog Brewing Company in Orleans to raise funds and awareness for Ovarian Cancer Canada. A new compilation album will be on sale at the concert to raise funds for ovarian cancer research. * Ottawa resident Tom Deadman calls in with a music pick and an update on the grassroots campaign to *save two large heritage maple trees* from being cut down by Regional Group, the developers of Greystone Village in Old Ottawa East. The City has issued a permit for Regional to cut down the trees, one of which has an 11-foot circumference, as of Wednesday, August 15. At this point, the developer's response to public concern has been to say that, "if the trees are removed, new trees will be planted". (!) As well, it only takes a few minutes to raise your concerns with your local elected representatives about this matter.
