The third and final hour of the program begins with Rwagasabo / Baraka from the Mighty Popo. It is a new single, in the form of a remake of an older song, and it marks the return of Mighty Popo to recording and working on his own music (there is even a video).
For the past few years, Popo has been dedicated to the Rwanda School of Creative Arts and Music in the Muhanga District, just south of Kigali, where he is a founder and director helping to develop a music industry in the country. Popo has gathered up a few of the artist who are making an impact in Rwanda's music scene so hear the words and music from: - Butera Knowless: https://www.facebook.com/knowlessbuterarwanda/ - Nel Ngabo: https://www.facebook.com/nelngabo/ - Igor Mabano: https://www.facebook.com/ntwari.igorgogo Mighty Popo's video for the song Rwagasabo / Baraka is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcYeyWpy1Ns And here is an article that I wrote when I visited in 2015: https://ottawacitizen.com/entertainment/local-arts/catching-up-with-popo-musician-making-a-mighty-effort-in-rwanda |
