Friday Drive
Friday April 18th, 2025 with Trevor Walker
[EasterWeekendWarmUp]

Happy Friday “Drivers” fam! A lot going on this weekend and an incredible amount of music was dug through getting ready for some of the happenings going down! Today’s show is a small taste of the madness to be unleashed this holiday long weekend. What I believe to be a nice potpourri of various vibes and grooves to hopefully keep you all entertained on this week’s show. Kicking things off with a nod to those who celebrate 4/20 with a lickle Reggae to get things “rolling” while taking the tempo up for the “unwind from the week” first hour and taking things up a bit further in the “wind up for the weekend” second hour to get you all pumped for whatever your weekend has in store. Happy listening, thank you all for taking the time and hope you enjoy this week’s offering.

CONCEPT THURSDAYS
@City Gridwrks
221 Rideau St
No Cover | 19+

As some of you may have seen on my Instagram, CONCEPTHURSDAYS is now moving over to City’s new venue: CITY GRIDWRKS. This decision comes from the fact that Concept had now outgrown City at Night and was having to turn people away at the door every week from not having enough space. City Gridwrks is our new venue on rideau st that can hold up to 3x more people, which will help us accommodate the growing demand for Concept.
The vision for the event still remains the same. Same people, same staff, same music, same vibe and will always remain free. This is still the same concept you know and love, just at a new location!

This Thursday is what we like to call GOOD THURSDAY, as it is Good Friday’s eve, the only public holiday friday of the entire year. If you haven’t been able to check out the new spot yet and you also can’t usually come to concept because of work on fridays, this is the perfect time to!

Rommel, a winner of several awards, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, musician, and producer who stands out for his talent and versatility. Blending elements of Brazilian popular music with afro-beat, reggae, funk, and jazz, Rommel breathes and sweats authentic and dynamic music with compositions in Portuguese, French, Spanish, and English.
His latest album is titled KARAWARA. "Karawara" is a polysemous word of Tupi-Guarani origin (from the family of languages of the lowlands of South America) which, among other meanings, refers to "the spirits of the forest." In this sense, Karawara pays tribute to the indigenous peoples of the world and their history of struggle for fundamental human rights and recognition. Karawara also addresses themes of ancestry, spirituality, and environmental and social issues, using music as a means to spread a message of peace, hope, humanity, and compassion.

LAROSE & FABRE

Hailing from Québec, Canada, Larose & Fabre are a DJ and producer duo who have made their mark on the electronic music scene with their explosive energy and unique sound.
Charley Fabre: Born in Paris, France, Charley began as a Hip-Hop and Reggae DJ before diving into the world of House and Techno in 2006. He established himself in the underground scenes of Toronto and Hamilton, performing at iconic venues like Comfort Zone and The Guvernment. His bouncy Techno-House style earned him a nomination at the World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF) and collaborations with renowned artists such as Flim, Sydney Blu, and Lady Bass.
Sébastien Larose: Originally from Alberta, Sébastien cut his teeth in Québec’s club scene, becoming a resident DJ at Le Drague, L’Éclipse, and Kaméléon. Yes and lots of rain coming tonight into Saturday so I am listening to my old favorite rain song, The Dramatics "In The Rain" from their "Whatcha See is Whatcha Get" LP. Still one of my very, very favourite albums; probably played that album almost as often as Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On"; certainlyu 2 of the most influential albums of my younger days.
