NOTE: We have extended our annual public funding drive and you can still donate using the DONATE button on this page. Thanks to all who have donated.
We open in conversation with two veteran CKCUers, Jeff Larocque (host of Thursday's Special Blend) and Dave Aardvark (CKCU's Program Director.) They co-produced CKCU's fantastic 50th Anniversary album "Still The Mighty." It is an album that celebrates the Ottawa music scene and features songs from a wide range of artists who have donated their tracks to be part of this collection. There is a vinyl version available at record stores around town and the digital version - with many more songs - is available for just $20 on Bandcamp.
And there is a special Still The Mighty album release party at Ollie's on the campus of Carleton University, tonight - Thursday, November 27.
One of the many groups/artists performing at the launch is Sleep Late. Keltie Duncan and Jordanna Marchand of Sleep Late join us on the show today to talk about the song they contributed to the album, a great tune titled No Hot Ashes. They tell us how the process of recording this new song has inspired them to start recording more new music for an upcoming release.

Next up we check in with Natalia Yanchak of the Montreal group The Dears. She is the keyboardist and a singer in the band and she is the partner of the band's vocalist and principal songwriter Murray Lightburn. We talk about the group's ninth album Life Is Beautiful, Life Is Beautiful, Life Is Beautiful and how the group will bring their orchestral pop-rock to life at the National Arts Centre's Studio tonight - Thursday, November 27. We also discuss how the group hopes the new album celebrates beauty and good in the world - a message we all need to hear more about these days!

Matias tells us how the unique nature of Toronto and Canada allows them to remain true to their musical heritage while creating new globe-spanning music with Kune. The group is/was at the Shenkman Arts Centre on Tuesday, November 25.
