The Guest List
Thursday March 20th, 2025 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Jeremie Albino and Alexander Shelley the Musical Director of the National Arts Centre Orchestra
NOTE: This On Demand version of the Guest List includes 3-4 minutes of additional interview segments with Jeremie Albino that had to be edited from the show to fit the 60 minute format of the FM broadcast. As well, this On Demand version of the program includes the complete first movement of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and the entire piece Listening Underwater by Keiko Devaux. We were only able to play excerpts from both pieces on the FM broadcast version of The Guest List.
The Guest List is sponsored by Spaceman Music, located at 388 Gladstone Avenue, just west of Bank. Visit Spaceman for all of your music making needs and don't forget they have a great repair shop and offer music lessons. Check out Spaceman online at:

Then we talk to Alexander Shelley, the Musical Director of the National Arts Centre Orchestra about Beethoven's stunning Fifth Symphony, which the Orchestra will be playing tonight (March 20th) in Southam Hall at the NAC. It is always a thrill to talk Alexander Shelley about music as his knowledge is expansive and his enthusiasm is infectious. He tells us about some of the ideas and powerful emotions reflected in Beethoven's iconic work and about Keiko Devaux's piece Listening Underwater which the NACO will perform tonight and on its upcoming tour of Korea and Japan in May and June. He also talks about a stunning piece of music, Become Desert by John Luther Adams which the Orchestra will perform on June 18th and 19th.
