Thursday December 12th, 2024 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Lynn Miles, Simone Provencher & Laurence Gauthier-Brown of VICTIME, and Parms of the Ottawa-based band Complicit

We take a look at three big events on the Ottawa independent music scene this weekend... so consider getting out to see at least one of them!
We open the show in conversation with Ottawa's own Lynn Miles, talking to her about her triple header of shows at Irene's this weekend - Friday and Saturday night and Sunday for a matinee. We talk to Lynn about how winter themes weave their way through many of her songs and how she has structured this special winter/Christmas concert. She also shares how she has created a special new song to pay tribute to her Mother who died a couple of years ago and was an important part of these Christmas concerts. Lynn also tells us about the incredible band that will be accompanying her at these shows.

And if you cannot attend one of these concerts at Irene's, Lynn is also doing a special solo Christmas concert at First Unitarian on Saturday, December 21st.

Then we play the second part of my interview with Simone Provencher and Laurence Gauthier-Brown of the Quebec-based experimental rock group VICTIME. We talk about how Laurence creates her vocals to fit into the dynamic and rhythmic songs on the new album En conversation avec and how they will recreate these sounds live on Saturday night when the group performs as part of Pique.

And don't forget that VICTIME is just one group appearing as part of Pique the Winter Edition on Saturday, December 14th. That is when Ottawa presenter Debaser takes over every space in the Arts Court building and brings it to life with lots of music and a variety of other artistic presentations. It's a pay what you can event and should not be missed. It's amazing.

Finally we talk to Parms of the Ottawa rock group Complicit, about the group's sound and their brand new single Tourniquet - which we give a world radio premier on the show today as it's being released to the world at large tomorrow! Parms tells us about how well he works with singer and principal songwriter Alanna Sterling and what went into the creation of the two singles we feature on the show today.
Complicit is appearing as part of the Spectrasonic Holiday Banger, with FiTH, The New Hires and Neon Ghosthouse. $1 from every ticket sold goes to support the Ottawa Food Bank.
