This is the kind of show I LOVE doing - as we have a couple of great indie artists engaging in warm and insightful conversations about the art they create. Love it.
NOTE: The On Demand version of the show is about 15 minutes longer than the FM broadcast today as we only used the firsts half of the interview with VICTIME on the FM broadcast. The second half of this interview will air on the FM airwaves next week, but I really wanted to keep the interview together for listeners today, as it has such a wonderful flow to the conversation. Also as part of the On Demand version of the show you get an additional song by VICTIME!!
We open in conversation with Ottawa's Kellylee Evans, talking about her brand new Christmas album Winter Song and her upcoming concert at the National Arts Centre in the Babs Asper Theatre on Saturday, December 7th. We talk about whether or not Kellylee had any doubts about covering some Christmas classics and how this new recording came together very quickly this Fall. She also fills us in about who will be performing with her at the NAC.

Then we talk to Simone Provencher (in Hull) and Laurence Gauthier-Brown (in Quebec City) about their group VICTIME, and their upcoming performance at Arts Court on Saturday, December 14th as part of Pique. We talk a lot about the edgy, rhythm driven music on their new album En conversation avec and how they recorded it. Laurence tells us about the personal nature of the lyrics on this album and Simone fills us in about some of the production methods they used. If you like Kim Gordon's recent album and some of her stuff with Sonic Youth then this is an album you should check out.

And don't forget that VICTIME is just one group appearing as part of Pique the Winter Edition on Saturday, December 14th. On the 14th, Ottawa presenter Debaser takes over every space in the Arts Court building and brings it to life with lots of music and a variety of other artistic presentations. It's a pay what you can event and should not be missed. It's amazing.

If you're listening on the FM airwaves we will play part 2 of this interview next week, but it's part of the On Demand version of the show right here today if you want to hear this conversation in its entirety.
Get out and see some live music this week and support independent music in any way that you can! Thanks for listening.
