The Guest List
Thursday August 1st, 2024 with Joe Reilly
Today we talk to Robin Rimbaud who creates music under the name Scanner, about a new album The Berklee Sessions

Robin Rimbaud creates an incredible amount of music under the name of Scanner. It's difficult to describe his amazing musical output and it certainly does not fit into tidy genres or categories. He joins us on the Guest List today to discuss a new album release entitled The Berklee Sessions. Robin tells us how he got together with Neil Leonard ten years ago at Berklee in Boston and how at Neil's suggestion they recorded an improvised music session with David Tronzo on electric (slide) guitar (David Sanborn, John Cale, The Lounge Lizards, Sex Mob, Wayne Horvitz), Mike Rivard on bass (Cab Calloway, Frank Zappa, Jon Brion), and Dean Johnston on Drums (Superhoney, Club d'Elf). We talk about how this kind of session was something very new for Scanner and how these amazing musicians worked together to create some stunning music. We also talk about working with Colin Newman on the Nanocluster Volume 1 album. Here is where you can listen to and purchase the Berklee Sessions on Bandcamp: https://scanner.bandcamp.com/album/the-berklee-sessions https://scanner.bandcamp.com/ And here is a link to Scanner's website: https://scannerdot.com/ Support independent music in any way that you can. Take care and thanks for listening.
