Interviews with members of the Swedish group Kolonien (Aug. 11 at the NAC) and Mick Kern of The Ring Shepherds

Today we speak to the members of another group appearing as part of the National Arts Centre's Nordic Bridges series. Kolonien is a four-piece folk group from Sweden, appearing at the Fourth Stage of the National Arts Centre on Thursday, August 11th. Fiddle-star Anna Möller and her cousins, brothers Arvid and Erik Rask on guitar and bass, together with their neighbour and percussionist Mischa Grind all grew up with traditional folk music deeply embedded in their families. On their album Till Skogen they explore themes around family, community and the environment singing in English and Swedish. All four members join us on the show today sharing their insights into the group's uplifting music. For information on Kolonien use this link: https://www.kolonien.nu And for tickets to Kolonien's performance on August 11th, use this link: https://nac-cna.ca/en/event/30888 Then we check in with Mick Kern about a brand new single from his musical project, The Ring Shepherds. It's another far-reaching conversation about pop and rock music in general and the new single A Day Closer To Everything. Some of you may remember Mick from his days as a programmer/host on CKCU-FM and a member of local rock bands The Randypeters, The Town Cryers and Porcelain Owl. If you want to purchase the new single from The Ring Shepherds, use the link below: https://theringshepherds.bandcamp.com Support independent music any way that you can. Take care and thanks for listening.
