Tonight we open the show talking to Daniel Monkman of the Indigenous music duo Ombiigizi. Daniel has worked as Zoon and his musical partner in Ombiigizi is Adam Sturgeon of Status/Non-Status. Daniel talk to us today about how he got together with Adam and how they worked with Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene to produce this amazing album Sewn Back Together. We also talk about some of the themes in the songs exploring life on the Rez, family life and the racism they both faced growing up. Voivod is bringing its heavy metal mayhem to the Bronson Centre tonight (Thursday, June 2) in what will be an intense show. Snake tells us how happy he is to have the band back on the road after more than a two year hiatus due to COVID. He tells us about how the band got started in the small community of Jonquiere in northern Quebec and how they have been willing to explore all kinds of heavy music over a 15 album, 40 year career. You may be surprised to hear the positive ideas Snake explores in this conversation and how he thinks the most important thing is for people to be kind to one another to help make the world a better place. It's an interesting chat for sure.
