An interview with William Prince about his albums Reliever and Gospel First Nation and his upcoming show that the National Arts Centre on March 30th

A fantastic conversation today with a gifted singer-songwriter William Prince. In 2020, William released his much-anticipated second album Reliever and the album lived up to its title as it provided great relief and solace to many people as we lived and struggled through the first stage of the global COVID pandemic. It is a gorgeous album and William talks to us about some of the themes he explores in the songs on the album and where he finds relief in the creative process. Later in 2020, he released another album entitled Gospel First Nation, a recording that was created "in the moment" to capture some of the gospel songs her grew up playing as well as some original numbers from William and an original song written by his father. While discussing this album, William talks about his own heritage as a First Nation Christian person and the challenges he faced recording and releasing this album during the summer and fall of 2020 when the unmarked graves of Indigenous children were being uncovered on the grounds of Christian residential schools across Canada. It is an enlightening conversation. William also talks about a song he wrote about Terry Fox called "Run" and a new single he has released with Serena Ryder, titled "Sing Me A Song."
