The Guest List
Thursday April 29th, 2021 with Joe Reilly
We feature the new album Crépuscule by Rêves sonores and talk to Nick Schofield and Stefan Cristoff about how this instrumental music reflects their community connections and their activism.
Today we talk to Nick Schofield and Stefan Cristoff who work together to create great instrumental music as Rêves sonores. We hear how the new album Crépuscule has been 6 years in the making and how Nick and Stefan worked together with a group of musicians in a variety of locations to create the intriguing music on this album. We discuss different production approaches used to record this music and how these instrumentals tell stories and reflect the activism so needed in our world today and how they are tied to Stefan's work as a community organizer in Montreal and important outreach work he does there. It's an engaging and far-reaching conversation tied together with music that is thoughtful, engaging and sometimes challenging.
If you enjoy the music check out this link to watch a beautiful recording of a recent Rêves sonores concert to launch the album. It is interesting to watch how they bring this complex music to life in performance.

Stay well out there and support independent music if you can. Bandcamp Friday is coming up next Friday, May 7th... a day when all sales proceeds on that site go directly to artists and their record labels.
