An interview with Pierre-Yves Martel about his new album Weird Scenes: Music From The Podcast

Today we talk to sound artist/musician Pierre-Yves Martel about his new recording Weird Studies: Music From The Podcast and we listen to lots of great music from this album. I apologize as Pierre-Yves's levels are a bit low on this recording so you may need to turn up your device to hear him more clearly. I couldn't fix it in the mix I'm sorry to say. We talk to Pierre-Yves about his early years growing up in Ottawa and how he made his way to Montreal where he now lives and creates music. He makes lots of great soundtracks for films and his latest album is a collection of music he created for the podcast Weird Studies. This podcast is hosted by Phil Ford and J.F. Martel and explores themes around art and philosophy and really features engaging and thoughtful discussion about art in all of its forms. Pierre-Yves has been creating incidental music for the podcast and recently released an album of some of that music. We talk about how he started making music for the podcast and why he decided to make an album of this music and how he put it together. We also talk about many of the great musical pieces featured on the album and how he worked with Ottawa's own Phil Bova to master the album.
