Kalle Mattson is our guest, talking about his new musical project called Summersets - a duo with his friend Andrew Sowka. And we listen to the six songs on their e.p. Small Town Saturday.

Today we talk to Kalle Mattson about the new musical project he has created with his friend Andrew Sowka. The group is called Summersets and they released an e.p. Small Town Saturday in August. On the surface it appears as a back to basics folk/pop recording that some are comparing to the work of Simon and Garfunkel. But as Kalle explains in this interview, these six songs are part of a bigger narrative musical project he is continuing to work on with Andrew. Kalle tells us a bit about the characters in the songs and a couple of times makes reference to songwriting "trickery" while describing how he wrote them. It's a fun, enlightening conversation about Small Town Saturday and the overall creative process. Once again we hear about how Jim Bryson has helped produce some fantastic new music and how drummer Peter Von Althen adds some unique rhythmic elements to the mix.
