An interview with Brad Martel of Amalgamation about the group's August 22 show at House of Targ and we play some great summer songs
We open the show today in conversation with Brad Martel who plays drums (and sometimes other instruments) with the Ottawa band Amalgamation. The group has been on a bit of a hiatus of late but will be playing its second show of the summer on August 22 at the House of Targ. Brad tells us how much he likes making rock music reflecting lots of different influences with lots of sounds and different approaches. He talks about his tight connection with long time bandmate Jeff Bertrand and the addition of new bandmate Andrew Sutherland. He also explained that although he can play a wide range of instruments, he is most comfortable behind the drum kit when playing live. He lets us know that some new music is in the making at some point in the future.

We had hoped for another interview at 5:30 but it didn't materialize. So instead we listened to some great summer songs, including the new single from Villagers... a new summer classic!
Get out and see some live music this week and be sure to buy some music from artists you love - either on vinyl, CD or as downloads. They need to make some money to keep making great music for us.
