Interviews with Mike Edel, Autogramm and Hey Ocean!

So it's an All Vancouver show today!! Everybody on the show is from the Left Coast of Canada! We open the show talking to Mike Edel. He is coming to Ottawa next week and will be at Cafe Dekcuf on Thursday, October 25th. Mike talks to us about the inspiration behind his new single 31, which is about turning 31 years of age and watching what a lot of his friends are doing while he keeps working away as a singer-songwriter. He felt that people in their 30s needed an anthem. We also talk about the decision to head out on the road well in advance of releasing a new album (sometime next February) and working with the legendary Chris Walla (formerly of Death Cab for Cutie) as the producer of his new album. http://mikeedel.com/ https://www.facebook.com/cafedekcuf/ Next up we chatted with Jiffy Marx of Autogramm. Jiffy tells us about how the group came together around 3 bandmates with lots of experience playing in other outfits and how that experience influences both the sound and the attitude of the group. We also talk about how the band worked to find the right vintage synthesizer sounds for songs like The Modern World - which will definitely resonate with fans of Gary Numan and John Foxx era Ultravox. The group is back after a hiatus and touring in support of the recently released deluxe edition of the album The Hurt of Happiness. The album was just released in the spring, but the band is back with a deluxe edition packed with special reworkings of songs etc. Ashleigh explains the thinking behind the deluxe edition, how she and her boyfriend shot the great video for the song Amsterdam and how the band got back together after breaking up for a while.
