Interviews with Better Living Through Chemistry, They Olympic Symphonium, Rob Lutes and Dana Sipos

We kick off the show tonight talking to Luigi Saracino who writes the words and sings the songs for the Ottawa-based group Better Living Through Chemistry. We start off talking about the beautiful metaphors Luigi works with in the song Dead Stars Shine and through the conversation he tells us how this is his most personal collection of lyrics to date and how much the band enjoyed working with Dave Dudley (Fluid Waffle, Furnaceface) on this recording. You can see the group performing at Pressed on Saturday, April 28. https://www.facebook.com/BetterLivingThroughChemistryBand/ https://pressed-ottawa.com/event/better-living-through-chemistry-album-release-w-life-size-men/ Next up we connect with Kyle Cunjak and Graeme Walker of the Olymphic Symphonium. The Fredericton based group has just released album number five and is on the road touring - and will be in the Ottawa area on Friday, April 27 at the Mill Road Community Centre in Chelsea and on Saturday, April 28 for an afternoon show at the Record Centre. We talk to Kyle and Graeme about the album graphics for the album Beauty In The Tension (which features a beautiful photograph of a dead bird) and how it has generated some controversy, the lyrics and arrangements of some of the songs and how recording the album in an isolated setting during the winter contributed to the sound of the album. http://theolympicsymphonium.com/ http://www.therecordcentre.com/ Then we squeeze in Rob Lutes for a quick chat because I double booked the 5:40 slot on the show. Sorry to Rob about having such a short conversation and to Dana Sipos about having a short interview with her as well. Rob Lutes is appearing at the National Arts Centre on the Fourth Stage on Friday, April 27. We talked to Rob about his newest album Walk In The Dark and how he tried some different approaches to recording his seventh album - like heading into the studio with a batch of new songs that hadn't been road tested. https://www.roblutes.com/ https://nac-cna.ca/en/event/19023 Finally we hear from Dana Sipos who will be releasing her new album Trick of the Light in mid-May and is appearing at the National Arts Centre on the Fourth Stage on Friday, May 4th. We talk about how Dana created When the Body Breaks at the Banff Centre for the Arts with Mary Margaret O'Hara in mind to add some vocals - and then had the great fortune of working with the legendary singer to add some very special vocalizing on the piece. It's an adventurous piece of music. We also talk about what to expect with the new album and for her appearance at the NAC. http://www.danasipos.com/ https://nac-cna.ca/en/event/18997 Get out and see some live music this week!

Did you play an Economic Action Plan Government of Canada advert leading into the show? Is it 2011? Did Harper get the Infinity Gauntlet's time stone and come back?
