Interviews with Ian Tamblyn, Sultans of String, The Elwins, and the Funk Hunters

A jam packed show today with 4 great interviews. First up we talk to Ian Tamblyn who has documented in song his experiences in big wide spaces like Antarctica, but recently has focussed on the Gatineau Valley and the history of our region. Over the last 3 years he has produced plays about the history and life up the Gatineau River in a number of small communities and has collected the songs from these shows on a new album titled Te Na Gadino. Ian drops into the studio to talk about the importance of reflecting community in these plays and these songs and the process he goes through to create the plays and the songs. The group has released a Christmas album called Christmas Caravan and they will be in town for a special Christmas music show at the Shenkman Arts Centre next Thursday, November 30. The group is out touring to support its latest album Beauty Community. We talk about things like the impact of the group's 2015 single "So Down Low" and how it has influenced the direction on the new recording. We also talk about the great e.p. the duo created with one of the greatest rap voices, Chali 2Na (of Jurassic Five fame.)
