5:20 pm chat with David Woodhead on line 1
Anne Lindsay on line 2 Sunday Nov. 19th at 4 pm at The Black Sheep Inn Anne Lindsay, David Woodhead and Charles James https://www.facebook.com/events/116091865749566/ Matinee performance, 4 pm show - $15 Anne Lindsay, David Woodhead and Charles James join musical forces for an afternoon at the Black Sheep – each bringing a lot to the table so their collective cup runneth over with adventures, tuning their collective radio to interpret traditional, jazz and classical sources into original compositions and unlikely adaptations. Anne has played violin/fiddle in every imaginable setting from the Arctic to Maple Leafs games to hundreds of sessions and concerts with everyone from Led Zeppelin and Blue Rodeo to the stage production of Lord of the Rings. With a lyrical style that can morph into get-down solos she has four CDs under her own name and has contributed to hundreds of others. Truly an explorer of wide musical territories, David Woodhead is a well-travelled bassist and multi-instrumentalist with an instantly recognizable personal style. He’s performed and recorded with many influential artists including Perth County Conspiracy, Garnet and Stan Rogers, Oliver Schroer, Manteca, Gil Scott-Heron, and David Sanborn and recently he’s been busy writing music for his own rambunctious and ever-evolving Confabulation ensemble. Charles James brings a sensitive ear to his work on acoustic bass, piano and guitar, and from graduating with honours at Humber College has gone on to a busy and eclectic career performing and recording with Jaron Freeman-Fox, New Country Rehab, Michelle Willis, and many others. His sense of tone and arrangement makes him the perfect complement to the others in the trio. Tickets at: https://www.theblacksheepinn.com/ordertickets.asp?p=983&src=performancelisting |

Kenya Dylan Menzie - Adolescent Nature |
5:35 pm chat with Dylan Menzie
Nov 17 – National Arts Centre 4th Stage, Ottawa, ON, with AHI https://www.facebook.com/events/476530279405655/ Nov 18 – Batstone’s Northern Ramble, 45 Railway Ave., Renfrew, ON http://www.dylanmenzie.com/ With a sprawling vocal range and compelling approach to composition, PEI’s Dylan Menzie made an indelible mark in the talent-rich Atlantic Canadian music market. In 2016, he was a finalist in CBC’s annual Searchlight competition on the back of his breakout single, “Kenya,” which then spent two weeks at number one on CBC Radio 2’s Top 20 leading up to the release of his 2016 album Adolescent Nature. Drawing clear influence from the likes of My Morning Jacket, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, and Joel Plaskett without being derivative of any one, the quality of these songs heavily belies the young artist’s age. He’s performed alongside acts like City & Colour and Ron Sexsmith and at major events like Australian Music Week, Edmonton Folk Festival, Folk Alliance International, and if he continues on his current trajectory of each new song, each new release eclipsing its predecessor, he’ll soon be impossible to ignore. |

Jonathan Chandler, Silent Winters
5:50 pm Jonathan Chandler is calling in on line 1 Olenka on line 2? https://www.silentwinters.com/home https://soundcloud.com/silentwinters/sets/fireworks-a-small-brigade Canadian Folk Music Award nominees for Ensemble of the Year and New/Emerging Artist of the Year https://folkawards.ca/nominees/ Silent Winters - a duo consisting of Jonathan Chandler and Olenka Bastian - are based out of Canada's Capital, Ottawa. Jonathan met Olenka in 2013 when she joined his Ottawa based indie-rock group Amos the Transparent. It soon became apparent that singing and performing together felt like home. With similar musical upbringings and inspirations drawn from Simon and Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, the Beatles, Milk Carton Kids, Civil Wars and others, it's with no surprise this project was realized. Their first album Fireworks and a Small Brigade was released May 30, 2017. Both Jonathan and Olenka continue to perform with both Amos the Transparent and as Silent Winters. |
