The Guest List
Thursday October 26th, 2017 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with the Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Sean McCann and the Hornettes

Really interesting interviews on the show today as we get political with two of our guests. First up we talk to Mark Marczyk of the Lemon Bucket Orkestra about the group's new album If I Had the Strength and their upcoming concert at De La Salle High School, next Wednesday, November 1. It's part of Chamberfest's ongoing concert series. We talk to Mark about the frenetic nature of the Lemon Bucket Orkestra's music and ties to the Ukraine. This all leads to a very interesting discussion about music and politics. http://www.lemonbucket.com/ http://www.chamberfest.com/concerts/2017-1101-01/ Next up we check in with Sean McCann. The former singer of Great Big Sea has launched a new album but he joined us today to talk about a benefit concert he has launched to support Guitars for Vets. The Play Your Part benefit features Joel Plaskett, Sarah Harmer, Jeremy Fisher and Sean performing in a songwriters' circle on Friday, November 10 at the Algonquin College Commons Theatre. Sean talks about how he got involved with the project and the importance of putting veterans who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder in touch with creativity and music through the Guitars for Vets program. http://vetscanada.org/play-your-part.php http://www.seanmccannsings.com/ Finally, Jeff from Ottawa's souful, r&b influenced dance band the Hornettes checks in to talk about the group's upcoming show at the Black Sheep Inn on Saturday night (October 28.) https://thehornettesband.com/ https://www.theblacksheepinn.com/ Get out and see some live music this week and thanks to everyone who has been dialling and donating to CKCU to keep us on the air for another year.
