Interviews with Slow Leaves and the Pack A.D. (And we talk about Oh Susanna)

Today we open with new music from Oh Susanna. Her new album is called A Girl in Teen City and it may be her best album yet. It's a strong collection of songs exploring her days as a teenager in Vancouver. Suzie is appearing at the National Arts Centre on Saturday night (October 7.) Suzie didn't make her phone call today so we hope she's ok. Definitely check out her show on Saturday. She's a great performer. We did talk to Grant Davidson who is Slow Leaves about his new album Enough About Me and his upcoming concert at Irene's next Friday night, October 13. We talk about the personal nature of his songwriting and the decision to start recording under the name Slow Leaves after releasing several albums under his own name. Finally we check in with Becky Black who is the guitarist and vocalist with the Pack A.D. Along with drummer Maya Miller, Becky packs a punch as the powerhouse duo the Pack A.D. The group is renowned for putting on energetic, driving sets and Becky talks about getting back up to speed to head out on this first tour in some time and how the road can sometimes be a challenge. We also talk about the how they keep making such vibrant music as a duo and whether or not they have been tempted to use tape looping technology in their live shows. NO WAY says Becky as the Pack A.D. wants to keep it truly live and visceral when they play. The group's new album Dollhouse will be released next Friday, October 13 - the same night the group plays at The 27 Club here in Ottawa. Get out and see some live music this week.
