The Guest List
Thursday September 29th, 2016 with Joe Reilly
Interviews with Reuben and the Dark and Krief

Today we talk to Reuben Bullock of Reuben and the Dark. The group is appearing in Ottawa at St. Alban's Church on Saturday night (October 1.) We talk about the cycle of songs on the album and how they translate onto a set list every night on the road. We also talk about the wide range of rootsy sounds on the album Funeral Sky as well as a bunch of new songs that the group is road testing on this tour. http://reubenandthedark.com/ http://www.spectrasonic.com/ We also talk with Patrick Krief - who has released music using his last name only. So if you want to find his music look under Krief. The former guitarist for the Dears has just released an amazing and dense double album. The two discs have the unique titles Automanic Red and Automanic Blue and capture distinct sounds and moods. Patrick talks about how the music was created first and the lyrics came to life as he worked his way through some life changing tragic events. He wanted the albums to ultimately sound positive and they do. We also talk about comparisons to David Bowie and Leonard Cohen - comparisons that Patrick can life with. He's in town to mark the release of these albums with a concert at Zaphod Beeblebrox tonight (Sept. 29th.) http://www.krief.ca/ As we always say on the Guest List... get out and see some live music this week.
